The “Don’t Dismiss Depression” Foundation, Inc. exists to restore the shattered hopes and the human dignity of those suffering from the disease of depression. This disease may be triggered by economic decline, illness, or a sudden change in a person’s psychological status because of divorce, death in the family, the loss of a job or participation in the protection of our country. To this end, the “Don’t Dismiss Depression” Foundation, Inc. may contribute to existing programs or through the Spirituality Partnership, which is the heart of the Foundation, encourage the wealthy to help the depressed to recover.
To accomplish this mission, the “Don’t Dismiss Depression” Foundation, Inc. encourages psychological counseling for the depressed through existing organizations. It encourages, fosters and promotes increased public awareness and understanding of depression and the means to treat and cure depression and related mental illnesses, with a particular emphasis on therapies which do not involve drugs alone. It works to educate patients, health care professionals and the public about depression, its causes, prevention and treatments. It endeavors to provide grants, funds, aid and assistance to mental health facilities and mental health professionals engaged in study and research of the causes, treatments, and cures of depression and related mental illnesses with a particular emphasis on research concerning treatments that do not involve drugs and the public policy issues related thereto. The Foundation provides direct aid and assistance to persons suffering from depression and related mental illnesses with particular emphasis on indigent persons who suffer from depression and related mental illnesses. It will work to underwrite, sponsor and support academic and scholarly studies, symposia and conferences related to advancing research and public education in regard to depression and related mental illnesses and the public policy issues related thereto. It provides nonpartisan analysis, study, and education related to depression and related mental illnesses.
It endeavors to accomplish the above purposes by all reasonable and practical means, including the dissemination of information in all forms and through all media to the public. It will work with government agencies, other organizations, and volunteers, and do any lawful acts and enter into all lawful agreements that may be necessary, useful, suitable or proper to accomplish the charitable purposes of the “Don’t Dismiss Depression” Foundation, Inc. provided that the same is permitted under Section 501 ©(3) of the Code.
